Having owned a small Dell 700m notebook for a year and a half, I felt it was time for a change. A former co-worker used to rave about his Macbook Pro all the time and I hadn’t put much thought into getting one myself since I was still fairly content with my Dell. My 700m was stylish, fast, and ultra portable and probably garnered the envy of most people still resigned to using those huge 15-17″notebooks. So why change?

I suppose I needed a change in my life more than just a trivial performance boost and new form factor. I wanted a new operating system, a different interface, preferably something that would also cater to my inner geek and OS X, a UNIX derivative, certainly fit the bill.
